Ghana's Ishmael Yartey ended his long-standing goal drought as he scored a classy finish for FC Sion after Ebenezer Assifuah had powered the Reds ahead in a 2-0 win over Grasshoppers in the Swiss Super League on Sunday afternoon.

Assifuah had opened the scoring for the host in the 13th minute after taking on his marker and Yartey sealed the win for Sion in the 90th minute.

Sion had failed to record a win in their last three games and were in search of goals against the second-placed side and majestic individual display from Yartey ensured Sion pilfered all the three points at stake in the game.

Assifuah's 13th minute finish was incensed with greater confidence as the former Ghana U20 striker took on the central defender with a measure of his boldness and calmly forced home a drive.

Sion tried to increase their tally and put the tie to bed early on but it took the brilliance of Yartey to fetched them the cushion. He fired them 2-0 up in the stroke of full-time, after a delightful, jinking run that tore the Grasshoppers defence to shreds.

He then took his time to round up the goalkeeper before sending home his first goal of the season.

Assifuah's own was his second goal of the season.
