Serie A 2016-17: Five Things To Look Out For In Round 14

Published on: 25 November 2016

Round 14 of the 2016/17 Serie A season will undoubtedly bring more surprises, with Atalanta once again proving to be the ones to watch, while Inter and Fiorentina clash in this weekend’s biggest game.

On the other sides of the table, a couple of potential relegation six-pointers come the end of the season take place, while a coach’s job could already be in jeopardy after recent performances.

Here are five things to look out for when watching the Italian football action this weekend.

Already thin ice for Pioli

Both Inter and Fiorentina were in action in the Europa League on Thursday night, and both played close games which ended in defeat, and in both cases it was down to a late goal.

With a draw against AC Milan last weekend and yet another loss to Hapoel Be’er Sheva in Europe, Stefano Pioli’s start as Inter coach could have gone a lot better. Fiorentina’s fortune has been a bit better, as their slight loss to PAOK Salonika is merely an anomaly in their string of results.

Two games is an extremely short, almost unrealistic, length of time after which a coach could be sacked, but a loss for Pioli and Inter this weekend would certainly make for a tense future already.
