Paris: Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa has begun an official visit to Paris following an invitation from UEFA to attend some of EURO 2016’s final stage matches.

During the visit, Shaikh Salman will attend Sunday's joint meeting between the AFC and UEFA when the Executive Committees of both governing bodies will discuss ways to further develop the burgeoning relationship the two parties currently enjoy.

The AFC President thanked UEFA for the invitation to attend EURO 2016 matches, and hailed the competition’s organisation as well as the quality of the matches the world has already witnessed.

Shaikh Salman also underlined the importance of the joint meeting between the two Confederations, noting that it provided yet another opportunity to reinforce the excellent partnership which exists between the AFC and UEFA.

The AFC President said that the strong relationship between the AFC and UEFA is thanks to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that was signed four years ago, while adding that there is a need to further widen the MoU’s scope so that it can cover even more areas of the beautiful game.
