As the summer transfer window heats up, Asamoah Gyan is the subject of numerous bids, especially from the free-spending Chinese clubs.

There is also interest from Qatar, who are keen to tempt the Ghanian ace from Arabian Gulf League champions Al Ain. It is being reported that Chinese Super League club Shanghai SIPG FC as well as Qatar’s Lekhwiya have made a formal bid for Gyan.

The Black Stars captain is currently enjoying his down time back home in Ghana. But after an injury-plagued last season, Gyan is training with his former team Liberty Professionals, whom he joined in 2003, in a bid to improve his fitness before the new season rolls along.

Gyan, who joined Al Ain on loan from English Premiership side Sunderland in 2011 before making the move permanent the next season, signed a contract extension with ‘The Boss’ last year which was set to see him remain with the club until 2018.

But with offers coming in for the 29-year-old, the Garden City club said last week that they are prepared to listen to offers. Al Ain hope though that their ace marksman will stay.

Media reports said that Qatari club Lekhwiya are willing to offer $28m, while Shanghai SIPG FC, coached by former England manager Sven Goran Eriksson, have come up with a figure of more than $27m.

Gyan trained with Liberty Professionals over the weekend at the Karl Rindorf Park. He was joined by his brother Baffour as they were put through the paces by Liberty Professionals coach George Lamptey.
