EXCLUSIVE: Shanghai SIPG confirm Asamoah Gyan's scheduled arrival for medical ahead of mega move
Asamoah Gyan to fly out with his entourage on Wednesday

Shanghai SIPG General Manager Sui Guoyang has confirmed Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan will arrive at the club for a scheduled medical at 3pm local time before signing a bumper contract.

The Black Stars captain has received the all clear from his current employers Al Ain to make the trip to China to finalize his move to the ambitious Super League side.

Al Ain have agreed to a transfer offer of around EUR20m to sell their prolific striker to Shanghai SIPG.

A private jet has already been booked to carry Gyan and his entourage from Dubai to Shanghai and will arrive at 3pm local time.

The 29-year-old will immediately undergo a medical, sign a contract and will be unveiled at a press conference before Shanghai’s FA Cup match against Guangzhou R&F on Wednesday evening with Gyan as a special guest in the stands.

"Yes, Gyan will arrive tomorrow afternoon on a three o'clock flight," the club’s General Manager Sui Guoyang has confirmed.

"I cannot say a hundred percent he will be joining because first of all there is a medical examination, if everything is okay, and the two sides will formally sign.”

Gyan’s imminent arrival has already sent the city of Shanghai into a frenzy.

Shanghai Shenhua has made a late attempt to hijack the deal with an improved offer but SIPG had already secured an agreement in principle with Al Ain.

A tripartite meeting between Gyan, representatives of Shanghai SIPG and Al Ain are currently ongoing to trash out the finer details of the deal before the Black Stars makes the trip to China.
