Ex-Hearts winger Charles Taylor claims former Ghana Sports Minister Enoch Teye Mensah threatened to kill his international career if he signed for Asante Kotoko.

The 33-year-old claimed the long-standing sports minster threatened to pull the plugs on his international career if he abandons Hearts to join sworn-rivals Asante Kotoko in a shocking revelation on Obuasi-based Shaft FM.

E.T Mensah, who is a known die in the wool Hearts supporter, used his position to frustrate his move to the Porcupine Warriors.

The former Enugu Rangers winger came close to signing for Kotoko during his time at Great Olympics but the purported move fell through.

Taylor, currently battling a nagging knee injury, has blamed the legislator for his delayed move to the Ghanaian champions.

“I agreed in principle with then former kotoko CEO Herbert Mensah but E.T Mensah warned me not to join the Red club or risk not playing for any of the national teams,” he told Shaft FM

"But I said to myself when I die and reincarnate I would  play for Kotoko."

He subsequently signed for Kotoko under controversial circumstances with the Kumasi-based side signing him for a record fee of $42,000 in 2003.
