Sierra Leone to play Ghana to mark anniversary

Published on: 19 April 2011

Sierra Leone will host Ghana in an international friendly in Freetown on 30 April.

The match is part of series of activities lined-up to celebrate Sierra Leone's golden jubilee this month.

But the two teams are expected to play with mainly home-based players as the match is not taking place within the calendar for friendly international fixtures set up by football's world governing body, Fifa.

Both countries will use the game match as part of their preparation for June's 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Sierra Leone currently third in group G will host Niger on 4 June whilst Ghana, who are top of Group I, entertain Congo the same weekend.
