SKY Sports extends La Liga coverage

Published on: 28 July 2012

Sky Sports will continue to air action from Spain’s La Liga after signing a three-year extension to its broadcast agreement, reports SportsPro.

The new deal, which begins with the 2012/13 season, includes exclusive live rights to more than 100 matches per, the bulk of which will feature either Barcelona or Real Madrid or both.

Indeed, Sky has confirmed it will show all of the two teams’ matches, including every one of the showpiece ‘El Clasico’ clashes.

Live action will be complemented by a weekly magazine programme called ‘Revista de La Liga’, which includes news, interviews and analysis throughout the season, whilst coverage will extend to Sky Sports News HD.

As well as on TV, Sky viewers will be able to watch live matches on PC, mobile and tablet devices.

Commenting on the rights renewal, Barney Francis, managing director of Sky Sports, said: "This is even more good news for Sky Sports viewers who enjoy the diet of Spanish football across Saturday and Sunday evenings. La Liga is one of the most exciting leagues in the world and the likes of Ronaldo, Messi and Iniesta provide fantastic entertainment each week of the season for football fans."
