On-loan Sochaux striker Jordan Ayew is eligible to play against his parent club Olympique Marseille in the Ligue 1 on Saturday, the club claim .

Ayew was farmed out during the January transfer window but there was no agreement on his eligibility to play when the two sides meet.

There have been publications in France that the 24-year-old is unqualified to play against mother club but that has been clarified by Sochaux.

"There was no written agreement, or gentleman's agreement about it in our earlier discussions with Marseille president Vincent Labrune that day,” Sochaux president Pernet Laurent said.

“The question that the player does not play against Marseille in case he comes home was raised but for us, it was not acceptable, and in finalizing the loan, we not have not spoken.

“There has been no agreement, and I can assure you that Jordan wants to play. He came to Sochaux for it."

Jordan is making a return from suspension to help Renard Herve's side beat the drop.
