Solomon Asante produced the most inspiring performance over the weekend he led TP Mazembe to an emphatic win in the CAF Confederation Cup on Saturday. 

Striker Matthew Amoah, Patrick Nyarko, Bismark Adjei-Boateng and Yakubu Mohammed all got on the score-sheet in their respective clubs in Europe and Afriyie.

Quartet Kevin-Prince Boateng, Michael Essien, Sulley Muntari and Kingsley Boateng were all played for Milan and Chelsea as they clashed in the 2013 Guinness Championship.

AFRICA

In the CAF Confederation Cup, TP Mazembe moved top of Group B after posting an emphatic 3-0 win over Moroccan side FUS Rabat at the Stade du TP Mazembe.

Black Stars winger Solomon Asante scored the opening goal for Mazembe in Lubumbashi and assisted two other goals for the Ravens.

Defender Richard Kissi-Boateng saw full-time action for Mazembe while midfielder Gladson Awako came off the bench in 61st minute.

Yaw Frimpong and Daniel Nii Adjei were not in the Mazembe team for the game.

Ghana first choice goalkeeper Fatau Dauda did not travel with South African side Orlando Pirates when they hammered Al Ahli in the CAF Champions League.

The 28-year-old was not registered by Pirates for the tournament.

Defender Harrison Afful lasted the entire duration of the match for Esperance de Tunis when they posted a comfortable 2-0 win over Cameroonian side Cotonsport.

Yakubu Mohammed crowned his debut in the South African Premier Soccer League with a sensational lone strike that claimed victory for Maritzburg United as they edged Polokwane City 1-0 in their season opener.

Awal Mohammed also played full time for Maritzburg.

Mamelodi Sundowns opened their season’s campaign with a 3-1 win over Bloemfontein Celtic. Defender John Awuah got sent off just before the break but defender Rashid Sumaila is yet to receive his International Transfer Certificate.

Black Stars keeper Daniel Agyei was humiliated in his first game for Free State Stars as they took a whopping losing 4-1 to SuperSport United.

Former New Edubiase United attacker Abdul Basit played 55 minutes while Edwin Gyimah played the full 90 minutes for SuperSport.

ENGLAND

Youngster Koby Arthur watched the entire game from the Birmingham City bench as they suffered a slim 1-0 defeat against Watford at the St Andrew’s Stadium.

Versatile forward Jeffrey Schulpp was an unused substitute by Leicester City who recorded a 2-1 win over Middlesbrough on Saturday.

Albert Adomah sat out of Bristol City’s 2-2 draw against Bradford City in the English League One.

Former QPR forward Patrick Agyemang scored the consolation goal for Portsmouth when they lost 4-1 to Oxford United.

GERMANY

Marcel Appiah played full time for Arminia Bielefeld who beat Eintracht Braunschweig 2-1 in the Pokal Cup.

Midfielder Charles Takyi set up the only goal of the game as Energie Cottbus pipped lower-tier side Magdeburg 1-0.

HOLLAND

PSV Eindhoven opened their season with a 3-2 win over ADO Den Haag. Winger Memphis Depay played 87 minutes for PSV.

Center-half Johan Kapperlorf was a pillar at the back Groningen who posted a 4-1 win over NEC.

FC Twente were held to a 0-0 draw at their favourite De Grolsch Veste at RKC Waalwijk. Defender Mitch Apau sat on the Waalwijk bench.

Winger Edwin Gyasi was not in the Twente team but Shadrack Eghan came off the Twente bench to play 27 minutes.

Youngster Raymond Gyasi failed to make AZ Alkmaar’s first team squad when they lost 4-2 at Heerenveen.

Dutch-born midfielder Jeffrey Sarpong played full time for NAC Breda when they drew 0-0 with Cambuur.

Matthew Amoah scored on his Heracles debut, netting their consolation goal when they lost 3-1 at Vitesse Arnhem.

Kwame Quansah played the entire 90 minutes for Heracles.

Fred Benson set up the match winner for PEC Zwolle when they beat Feyenoord Rotterdam 2-1. Elvis Manu was not in the Feyenoord team.

RUSSIA

Black Stars striker Abdul Majeed Waris returned from injury to sit on the bench for Spatark Moscow when they managed to hold Kuban’ Krasnodar to a 2-2 draw.

NORWAY

Bismark Adjei-Boateng netted his seventh goal of the season for Stromsgodset after scoring in their 4-2 win over Sarpsborg 08 in the Norwegian top-flight.

Goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey captained Stromsgodset in the game but defender Razak Nuhu did not travel with them.

Ernest Asante saw full-time action for IK Start who lost 1-0 to Odd at home.

King Osei-Gyan was a full timer for Viking in their 2-2 draw with Lillestrøm.

SCOTLAND

Kevin Luckassen played 83 minutes for Ross County when they lost 3-1 to Celtic in their opening game of the season.

BELGIUM

Midfielder Bennard Kumordzi warmed the bench for KRC Genk in their 4-1 win over OH Leuven on Saturday.

Defender Daniel Opare was in fine shape for Standard Liege who posted a convincing 3-0 win over Lierse.

Richard Ofori did not feature for Lierse SK.

Enock Adu-Kofi watched from the bench as his Club Brugge defeated new boys KV Oostende 2-1 in an away duel.

Nana Akwasi Asare marked his debut for Gent when they Mechelen 2-1. Abdul Yakinu-Iddi came off the bench after 55 minutes to play for Mechelen.

Ghana U20 winger Frank Acheampong did not travel with the Anderlecht team when they recorded a big win beating Cercle Brugge 4-0.

Sporting Charloi were held to a 1-1 draw by Waasland-Beveren and former Heart of Lions midfielder Abraham Kudemor came off the bench in the last 10 minutes to play for Sporting.

UKRAINE

Dominic Adiyiah played the last 2 minutes for Arsenal Kiev who managed a point from their game against Vorskla with ten men.

Winger Abeiku Quansah failed to get into the first team squad.

Samuel Inkoom did not travel with FC Dnipro for their game against Volyn which they won 3-1.

SWITZERLAND

Striker Samuel Afum was introduced by Uli Forte for Young Boys who posted a 3-1 win over FC Zurich.

He played the last 25 minutes of the game for Boys.

Winger Ishmael Yartey came off the bench after 64 minutes to play for FC Sion in their 1-0 defeat at Luzern.

Ibrahim Moro was not used by AIK Stockholm in their win over Elfsborg.

Benjamin Fadi lost his place in the Malmo FF team and did not travel with them as they beat Halmstad BK 3-1.

Nasiru Mohammed missed BK Hacken’s 3-1 defeat at IFK Göteborg to suspension.

UNITED STATES

Midfielder Patrick Nyarko grabbed his fourth goal of the season scoring the opener for Chicago Fire in their 2-1 win over Philadelphia Union.

He also set up the match winner.

Quincy Amarikwa also played for Chicago Fire.

Portland Timbers and Vancouver Whitecaps settled for 1-1 draw in a highly entertaining game.

Khalif Alhassan and Aminu Abdallah were both unused by Timbers and Whitecaps respectively.

Dominic Oduro played full time for Columbus Crew but failed to score as they lost 3-1 at Houston Dynamo.

DENMARK

Former St Pauli defender Davidson Drobo-Ampem was a pillar in central defence for Esbjerg who beat Brondby 2-0 at their own backyard.

Young defender Dominic Oduro watched from the bench as his AGF side beat Nordsjælland 2-1.

Danish-born Kelvin Mensah warmed the bench for Viborg as they lost 4-2 at BK Odense.

Danny Amankwaa played the last six minutes for FC Copenhagen who were humiliated by Randers FC losing 3-1 to them.

FRIENDLY

Michael Essien played in central midfield in the first half for Chelsea as they beat AC Milan 2-0 in the Guinness Championship in the USA.

Kevin-Prince Boateng and Sulley Muntari started for Milan while youngster Kingsley Boateng started from the bench.
