Sulley Muntari is now an integral member of the AC Milan squad

Alhaji Muniru Sulley says he is not surprised by the meteoric rise of his son due to the AC Milan star’s insatiable appetite for hard work.

The 30-year-old now plays for one of the biggest clubs in the world and is amongst the few chosen ones to have played for both Inter and AC Milan.

Muntari first moved to Europe as a teenager to join Udinese from Ghana Premier League club Liberty Professionals.

His move to Italy however preceded a trial at English giants Manchester United where he was not signed to a permanent deal.

The feisty midfielder impressed and stuck with the Udinese first team after just one season with the reserve side to kickstart what will eventually be an impressive club career.

Muntari later moved to England to join Portsmouth where he impressed to win back a return to Italy to sign for giants Inter Milan.

And just when many thought he had nothing more to offer and with loan stints at Sunderland, Muntari joined Inter’s cross town rivals where he has now become an integral member of the side.

The 30-year-old’s dad says he is not surprised by the sterling career of his son which he attributes to his tireless efforts and appetite to train constantly.

“Sulley is a very hardworking player,” Alhaji Muniru told Asempa FM.

“He trains even when he is sick. It is an endowment he has – being a workaholic.

“That is why he succeeded at Udinese within a short time.”
