Veteran Ghanaian trainer JE Sarpong says Kotoko goalkeeper Abdoulaye Soulama will need a psychologist to overcome a recent bribery allegation.

The 33-year-old Burkinabe shot-stopper was accused in section of the Ghanaian media of taken money to throw their CAF Champions League return leg tie against Barrack Young Controllers last week away.

Soulama conceded what is perceived to be cheap goal which sparked claims of bribery against the long-standing glovesman.

He has vowed never to play for the Ghanaian giants again until he’s cleared of the allegations.

However experienced Ghanaian coach JE Sarpong believes the goalkeeper will need a psychologist to overcome the trauma.

“You know he is a human being and so will be affected by what has happened,” he said

“It’s not easy to sacrifice for a club and all of a sudden you are accused of taken a bribe. It's a wicked allegation which can destroy a person's football career.

“That is a kind of allegation which can also destabilize your mental faculty. He needs a psychologist to help him overcome the mental and emotional ordeal.

“If the situation is not well treated, he may find it difficult to play for the club and may even affect his performance.

“It’s not something which must be treated lightly. He needs help to overcome the mental stress.”

Soulama joined the Porcupine Warriors in 2007 and has since been an integral member of the squad.

He has won two League titles with the Kumasi-based side.
