South Africa international May Mahlangu expects Ghana to build on their performance from the 2010 World Cup to upset the odds in Brazil where the tournament kicked off yesterday.

The IFK Göteborg midfielder believes the hosts of the 2014 Fifa World Cup hold the advantage in their own backyard in terms of winning the tournament.

However, the 25-year-old tells KickOff.com that the Black Stars will shine for Africa.

“I think Ghana will do well, even though they are in a tough group. I think they can do wonders, the same way they did in 2010,” he says.

Ghana, who were knocked out of the quarterfinals by Uruguay in 2010 in South Africa, are in Group G with USA, Germany and Portugal for the tournament in South America.
