SOUTHAMPTON, Ward-Prowse: \"Defeating West Ham and keeping on winning is all about clean sheets\"

Published on: 27 September 2016

Commenting upon latest Southampton victory at London Stadium, against West Ham, English 21-year old midfielder and winger James Ward-Prowse stated:

“I think the highlight of the week was Jake [Hesketh] getting his goal, and capping off a real good few days with a win here, and we can take that confidence into the game on Thursday. It’s all based from the clean sheets. The lads at the back and Fraser [Forster] obviously want to keep clean sheets, but everyone has got to defend as a team, and you can see the honesty of the lads up front to get back and to work and defend was great to see, and that rubbed off on everyone. The determination to keep the ball out of the back of the net is what’s giving us results now.

The manager has got to rotate the team, because of the volume of games, so the fact that whoever he calls upon can stand up and do the job is obviously a positive sign. They’re definitely winnable games as well. We want to play anyone at the minute, as we’re on a real good run, and like I said we can take confidence from today to take into Thursday.
It’s going to be a tough trip, but I think we can use that to push us on”.
