Russian side Spartak Moscow have inquired about the availability of Ghana midfielder Anthony Annan, who is facing the sack at Schalke 04, GHAHAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

Annan has been penciled as one of the players to be released by the Bundesliga side, Schalke sporting director Hosrt Heldt told Bild.

The combative middleman joined the club in January this year but has been out-of-favour with the arrival of Ralf Rangnick in the close of last season.

"They (Spartak) have contacted the club but that is just the begining. There are still talks on-going and we have until end of August," a confidant told GHANAsoccernet.com

"His future is bleak not because of non-football matters which I not permitted to disclose to you."

Turkish side Bucaspor and a host of Bundesliga sides have also expressed interest in signing him on.

Annan has joined the Schalke side in pre-season and excelled as a make-shift left winger in their 10-0 win over lower side Bergbau-Auswahl on Sunday.

The 24-year-old is unfazed about reports surrounding his future and wants to fight for a place.

"I'm not disturbed at all and focused on doing my job at the club. I have to prove myself and stay at the club. I have the credentials and I'm focused."

Annan played at the 2010 Fifa World Cup finals in Germany.
