Abdul Karim Zito has found himself at the centre of Kotoko’s search for a successor to Maxwell Konadu after speculation linking him with the job mounted.

Tema Youth coach Tony Lokko had been the long-time front-runner but his reported meeting with Medeama officials sparked the rumuor mill into life.

Zito, former player of the club met with Kotoko Executive Chairman Dr Kofi Kodua Sarpong on Wednesday in what sources say was a meeting scheduled well before reports emerged the club was prepared to try their luck with the ex-Hearts of Oak trainer again having rebuffed once.

The pair reportedly discussed issued that bordered on the job and possible transfers and recruitments for next season.

Kotoko want to augment their squad ahead of their participation in next season’s Caf Champions League.

They have been linked with a host of quality players including Aduana Stars defender Godfred Saka, New Edubiase duo Sekyi Quaye and Mumuni Abubakar with Mighty Jets Eli Agbeko believed to be on the radar of the Ghana Premier League champions.

However, despite suggestions elsewhere that Zito has already been offered the Kotoko job, officials have remained tight-lipped on the issue insisting they are ‘pure speculation’

Tough-talking coach David Duncan and 2009 World Under-20 winning coach Sellas Tetteh have all been linked with the job.
