Sports Minister Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah has told the Black Stars to aim at winning the 2014 FIFA World Cup finals in Brazil.

The 2010 World Cup quarter-finalists face a difficult task after being drawn with Germany, Portugal and the United States of America in Group G.

There is a possibility of the Black Stars exiting after the first round and failing to replicate their performance at the last tournament in South Africa where they reached the quarter-final.

But Afriyie-Ankrah has urged Kwesi Appiah and his charges to hunt for the title.

“We are going to Brazil not to add up to numbers no that is not Ghana, we want the real deal and from all indication it is possible,” he said.

“Everything starts from preparation and government in close relation with the handlers of the team are ensuring that we are mentally, psychologically and spiritually ready to face any task ahead of us.

“As for the names and the level of opposition we will come against we have equally good players who are playing across Europe in the best league who can match up.

“The most beautiful aspect of football is the fact that it is a team game and individual qualities are not always the strongest tool.

“The goal has been to do better than we did the last time and winning it is all that is in my mind.”

Ghana open their campaign on 16 June against USA in Natal before engaging Germany and Portugal.
