Sports Minister Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah has tasked the national U20 team to return from the African Youth Championships as winners.

The Black Satellites left Accra on Wednesday for the final phase of their preparations towards the tournament that kicks off on March 16.

The team will hold training tours in Italy and Spain before arriving in Algeria for the competition.

And the minister in encouraging the boys before they departed on Wednesday guaranteed the state’s preparedness to provide all that is needed to ensure success in Algeria.

“This is my first football related assignment,” he said.

“The government will provide all you need during your training tour and the competition to ensure you emerge successful.

“I want to use this occasion to encourage you that aside everything go out there and win for I will be waiting for you here expecting the cup.

“You must remain focuses, you must know the whole nation is behind you, the President is behind you, your families are behind you, the nation is behind you and you should take advantage this opportunity to make yourself and the nation of us proud.”

The minister added: “The bible says seek ye first the Kingdom of God and all things shall be added, I am saying seek ye first the football Kingdom.

“If you go and perform well, everything will be chasing you, waaa, waaa, waaaa.”

Ghana is drawn in Group A and will face tournament hosts Algeria, Benin and Egypt.
