Sports Minister Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah has charged the Black Stars to punch above their weight at the 2014 FIFA World Cup finals in Brazil.

The sector minister was speaking at a dinner party organized by the Ghana Football Association to award individuals who contributed to the development of football in 2013.

Afriyie-Ankrah said government was going to do all in its power to ensure the team is adequately prepared going into the mundial.

“The stars have all capabilities to do better than they did in the previous world cup, on the part of government we will ensure that all is done to properly equip and amour them to deliver on the world stage,” he said.

Ghana reached the last eight at the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa.

The Black Stars will play USA, Germany and Portugal in Group G.
