The Ministry of Youth and Sports has advised prospective football officials and supporters to make arrangements ahead of time before travelling to Equatorial Guinea for the 2015 African Cup of Nations (AFCON 2015) which begins on January 17.

According to the ministry, there were limited hotels in the city of Mongomo where the Black Stars will be based during the AFCON and as result  hotels will be in  high demand, and expensive.

A statement signed by Michael Frimpong, the head of public relations, MOYS, said the Ghana mission in Equatorial Guinea had made arrangements for six houses  each with 52 bedrooms with prices ranging from 50,000 (CFA) (US$100) to 80, 00 CFA (US$160) per room for the fans.

The ministry however warned that  the  prices might shoot up as a result of high demand, urging Ghanaians to make arrangements ahead of time in order to avoid inconveniences.

“There are three major hotels in Mongomo where the Black Stars will be based; they are Hotel Mongomo, Hotel Akoakam and Hotel Ovono Nfa. Information gathered indicates that the football teams may be hosted in these three hotels.

“There is also Hotel Fabiola Mongomo with 76 rooms ranging from 40,000 CFA (US $80) to 100, 000 CFA (US $ 200) per room daily and Hotel plaza Mongomo with Twenty (20) bedrooms ranging from 30,000 CFA (US$ 60) to 45,000 CFA (US$ 90) per room”.
