Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was omitted from Borussia Dortmund’s matchday squad to face Wolfsburg on Sunday, but the club’s head coach Peter Stöger says he expects the striker to stay at the club.

"For me it’s just logical [that Aubameyang stays at Dortmund]," Stöger told reporters at the club’s training ground on Monday. "I expect everything to be as it was. He’s a Dortmund player, he trains and he’s in our plans for the upcoming match."

The 28-year-old striker has scored 13 goals in 15 Bundesliga appearances this season, with 98 goals coming in his 143 German top flight games to date as a Dortmund player.

Aubameyang told bundesliga.com that he has a surprise for when he scores his 100th Bundesliga goal, sitting only two strikes from the tally.

"It's something very special to be here. The whole city is mad about the club," said the 28-year-old, who has been in Dortmund since 2013. "The fans are like a solid wall behind us, pushing us on until the very last kick of the ball. It’s simply wonderful."

Stöger believes his ambitious forward understood being left out against Wolfsburg and will be ready for Matchday 19.

"I have the feeling that he is a very stubborn character and is also ambitious. I guess he understood [being dropped]. Let's see how it develops in the coming days."
