Geelong: Alen Stajcic paid tribute to the Matildas' attacking quality for making the difference in the 5-1 win over China PR in Geelong on Sunday as Australia ended their 2017 seaon in style ahead of the AFC Women's Asian Cup 2018 draw on December 1.
Sam Kerr added another brace, Kyah Simon hit a stunner from long range and Chloe Logarzo opened her international account as Australia completed back-to-back victories in the two-match series.
And while Stajcic only deemed it a "five out of 10" performance, he has full faith in the team's ability to create goals from any situation.
"I think our front three or four were really good. When we got in those areas we were a big threat," Stajcic said at his post-match press conference.
"There are so many ways we can score goals now.
"We're just a such a threat in various aspects of the game and I think that will be a big strength of ours moving forward in the next couple of years."
At the end of a year which has seen the Matildas reach stunning heights, matching the national team record of seven successive victories, Stajcic is pleased to have achieved his major objective.
"The things we've set out to do this year I think we've achieved," he said.
"[The main one] was certainly to build a squad where we don't have to really rely on one player and where we've got so many players who can play in different positions.
"Hayley Raso came on today and I thought she was excellent getting forward and stopping some of their counter-attacks.
"So to have a group now of 25 players we can draw upon is something that gives us strength going forward."
Australia can now look forward to the AFC Women's Asian Cup 2018 draw and the Championship in Jordan next April with full confidence.
