Midfielder Mubarak Wakaso says he needed to remain calm to pick his spot in scoring Ghana’s second goal in the 3-0 mauling of Equatorial Guinea on Thursday night.

The Black Stars booked a final date in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations with Cote d’Ivoire on Sunday following the comprehensive win over the tournament hosts.

Jordan Ayew started the rout by converting a 42^nd minute penalty after Kwesi Appiah had been sent tumbling in the box by Equatorial Guinea goalkeeper Felipe Ovono.

Ghana doubled its lead through Mubarak Wakaso who get on the end of a swift counterattack with Christian Atsu leading the charge.

The on loan Rubin Kazan man at Celtic kept his composure to set the ball up nicely in the box before picking his spot to score.

The 24-year-old in describing his goal says he needed to remain calm in front of goal to ensure he didn’t miss the glorious chance.

“I saw the players [opponents] sliding so I knew if I shoot, he will block it,” Wakaso told GHANAsoccernet.com.

“So I had to control it calmly and finish it up with what I have.”

Stand-in captain Andre Ayew scored Ghana’s third in the 75^th minute to effectively kill off the game which was marred by crowd violence.
