Stoke boss Hughes admits attempt for Chelsea captain Terry

Stoke City boss Mark Hughes admits he made an attempt for Chelsea captain John Terry.

The pair bumped into each other after Stoke's game at Chelsea on December 31 and Terry's future plans soon cropped up in their conversation.

“It was just a conversation after the Chelsea game," Hughes said of his meeting with Terry on New Year's Eve.

“I know John. I played with him when he was just starting off his career. I saw him after the game and it was a general conversation in terms of what he's going to do.

“Was he staying? Was he leaving? Was he finishing? It was that type of conversation.

“You would imagine at this stage of his career he's looking to have one or two seasons where he's playing regularly, because that's the key for him. So you look for opportunities that will give him that."
