Stoke City are considering Ghana forward David Accam after handing him a trial.

The 25-year-old has just completed a season with Chicago Fire in MLS, where he was their top scorer with 10 goals in 24 league games.

Accam, who can play as a winger or striker, is understood to have done well during his trial but any potential loan or permanent deal would be complicated by the need for a work permit and visa.

Mark Hughes will be hoping his side can push for a European spot in the second half of the season after an impressive start.

The Potters eased to a 2-0 win over Manchester United on Boxing Day with Bojan Krkic and Marko Arnautovic scoring the goals for Hughes' side.

They face a tricky trip to Goodison Park to take on Everton on Monday.
