Kotoko chief Samuel Opoku Nti has urged the club’s supporters to stop ‘crying’ former midfielder Yahaya Mohammed.

Kotoko fans are bitter over how the midfielder left the club having given him a lifeline to his ailing career.

The Ghanaian champions released the 26-year-old last week with a heavy heart after failing to cash on his transfer to Libyan side AL Ittihad.

The former Amidaus Professionals player signed pre-contract with the side without the club’s consent well aware he was within his right to seal the deal.

Kotoko suspended him but decided to let him go under acrimonious circumstances.

Kotoko supporters are angry with the player’s ‘ungrateful’ attitude to the club but the club’s acting General Manager Samuel Opoku Nti wants sleeping dogs lie.

“It’s been very painful but life must go on. There is no need to cry over Yahaya Mohammed,” he said

“We had to let him go because it was not worth it. Posterity will judge all of us.

“Life is a cycle and so we at Kotoko wish him well. I will just urge our supporters to forget about him and concentrate on those we have here.

“He didn’t play the second half of the league last season yet we won the league. So there is no cause for alarm.”

The troubled midfielder has been farmed out on loan to Egyptian side Al Ittihad.
