Amoah scores season's first for NAC, performance of Ghanaians abroad

Ghana striker Mathew Amoah scored his first goal of the Dutch Eredivisie season for NAC Breda on Sunday in their 2-1 away defeat to Heracles.

Jordy Buijs sent in a free-kick and Amoah, from the middle of the penalty area, sent a downward header past home goalkeeper Remko Pasveer to put NAC 1-0 up in the 32nd minute.

But Heracles drew level thanks to a Willy Overtoom penalty midway through the second half and then snatched the winner through Everton 14 minutes from time.

Compatriot Kwame Quansah played for Heracles.

Other Ghanaian players were in action for their clubs on Saturday.

In England:

Asamoah Gyan suffered an injury in the 66th minute as Sunderland began the new English Premier League season with a 1-1 draw at Liverpool.

In the Npower Championship, John Pantsil marked his Leicester City debut with a 2-0 defeat at home to Reading.

The right-back was a full-timer for the big spenders.

Norway:

Paul Addo featured for the entire minutes in Odd Grenland's 1-1 draw with Valerenga in the Norwegian top flight.

Ghana duo Adam Larsen Kwarasey and Mohammed Abu played full throttle as Stromgodset lost 2-0 at Stabaek.

Germany:

Isaac Vorsah maintained his place in the Hoffenheim back line as they piped champions Borussia Dortmund 1-0.

In Bundesliga II, striker Charles Takyi lasted an hour in Saint Paul's 2-1 win at Bochum.

Davidson Drobo-Ampem who spent last season on loan in the Danish League sat on the bench for Pauli.

Winger Mohammed Lartey played full throttle for Hansa Rostock which managed a scoreless draw with Duisburg.

In the Bundesliga III, defender Phil Ofosu-Ayeh played 71 minutes for FC Erfurt which lost 2-0 to Stuttgart's amateur side.

Elsewhere, Jeff Gyasi was introduced on the 25th minute for Oberhausen which suffered a 3-0 defeat at home to Heidenheim.

Defender Jurgen Duah was a pillar in defence for Preussen Munster which brushed aside Jena 3-1 at their own backyard.

Marcel Appiah and Eric Agyemang were both in action for Arminia Bielefeld which suffered a heavy 5-1 reverse at Darmstadt.

Holland:

In the second-tier league, duo Jonathan Opoku and Mitch Apau were both second half substitutes for Veendam which succumbed to a 3-0 defeat bu Almere City.

In the lower league, Kevin Tano was deployed as a right-winger and played full throttle in Volendam's 2-0 win over MVV.

Kevin Bossman was a 69th minute substitute for Helmond Sports which beat Sparta Rotterdam 3-2 at home.

Belgium:

Ghana youth international William Owusu Acheampong opened the scoring after 20 minutes for his new side Westerloo which suffered a 3-1 reverse at Beerschot.

He lasted the entire duration of the match.

Striker Patrick Amoah was introduced on the 79th minute for Leuven which suffered a 1-0 loss to Club Brugge.

France:

In the Ligue 2, Moussa Narry played 90 minutes for Le Mans which lost 1-0 at Bastia on Friday.

Speedster Haminu Draman was replaced after 34 minutes as Arles Avignon drew goalless with FC Nantes.

Ukraine:

Centre-back Daniel Addo was in full flight for Zorya which lost 2-1 at Karpaty.

Midfielder Derek Boateng was brought on after 59 minutes in Dnipro's 3-1 defeat to Shakhtar Donestk. Â 

Serbia:

Midfielder Francis Bossman was a 52nd minute substitute for FC Sloboda in their 1-1 draw at Jagodina.

MLS:

Dominic oduro scored for Chicago Fire in their 2-2 draw with New York Red Bulls.

Compatriot Patrick Nyarko was substituted after 56 minutes for Chicago Fire.

Ghana youth international Gershon Koffie played for Vancouver Whitecaps in their 4-0 defeat against DC United.

Others:

Promising dribbler Frank Acheampong scored for his Thai side Buriram PEA which drew 1-1 with Chonburi.

Would-be Ghana international Jefferey Sarpong grabbed the winner for Real Sociedad in their 2-1 win over Italian side Catania in a club friendly.
