Struggling Ghanaian giants Accra Hearts of Oak have confirmed the appointment of German-Turkish manager Can Vanli as the club’s new technical advisor.

The European tactician, who was in the hunt for the Black Stars coaching position in the past, has been appointed in a bid to strengthen the technical bench as the side desperately fights to avoid the drop.

He will supervise the work of interim coach Eddie Ansah ahead of the crucial remaining five matches in the Ghanaian top-flight.

“We can confirm Can Vannli is on the technical bench to offer assistance. He is here to offer assistance and advice to the technical team on the last five matches.” Board member Frank Nelson confirmed.

The appointment of Vanli has fuelled speculation he could take over the job on a permanent basis at the end of the season.

Vanli was in the stands when Kotoko defeat Hearts of Oak on Sunday and he is expected to play a key role on Wednesday when they take on Liberty Professionals

The club is without a substantive coach following the departure of Herbert Addo.

Vanli was overlooked for the Black Stars coaching job in 2010 in a race which was eventually won the Serbian Goran Stevanovic.

The workaholic coach is fames for his tactics that has earned him rave reviews in the German and Turkish media.
