Sudan vow to beat Ghana in final Nations Cup qualifier

Sudan have promised to halt Ghana's run in the final 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on 8 October.

The Desert Hawks, tied on 13 points with the Black Stars, need the win in Omdurman to go on top of Group I.

A draw will see the Stars qualify as Group winners via head-to-head rule with Sudan having to compete for the two best runners-up with the other teams.

"We have laid out an ambitious programme for the national team for the final qualifier with Ghana next month,'' Gaafar told GNA Sports.

"After consultations with the technical team, we have settled on a schedule that will lead to victory to avoid the complex calculations.''

Sudan plan to hold a training camping abroad and engage some top sides in friendlies to put the team in shape.

"The players are very determined to achieve the results. We are keen on qualification and will do our best to reach there,'' he added.

The North African shock Ghana at the Baba Yara Stadium to a goalless draw in October last year.
