Sunderland confirm Muntari treatment with Ghana team

English side Sunderland say Sulley Muntari will undergo treatment with the Ghana medical to ensure that he is fit for Sunday’s crucial Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

The midfielder has travelled to join up with the Black Stars team in Kenya after being initially ruled out of the tie by Black Cats coach Steve Bruce.

Muntari was forced to come off during Sunderland's game with Liverpool on Sunday after tweaking his calf.

Sunderland says the Ghana medical team headed by Dr. Percy Annan will help him to recover before the game in Brazzaville.

“(Muntari) will undertake recovery and treatment with the national side's medical team,” Sunderland said in a statement.

Muntari travelled together with Black Cats team mates John Mensah and Asamoah Gyan for the Black Stars camp in Nairobi.

Ghana are due to face the Congo on Sunday and then set to play England in front of a sell-out Wembley crowd the following Wednesday.
