Sunderland gets first refusal of players in Kotoko deal

Sunderland have worked out a deal with Asante Kotoko which sees the English club get first refusal of talents from Ghana.

This agreement was reached in the ongoing partnership talks between the Ghanaian champions and the English Premier League club.

The Black Cats have mandated Kotoko to search for the best talents in Ghana on their behalf.

These players, when found, will be first offered to Sunderland before other offers are heard.

The English club will also have Kotoko groom some of its players while work permits are secured for them in the UK.

“Sunderland have proposed to use Kotoko as their scouts for Africa,” Kotoko’s International Relations Consultant Kwame Baah Nuakoh said.

“We may be given the players to groom and work towards qualification for work permits in England.”

Kotoko will represent Ghana in next season’s CAF Champions League following their domestic Premier League feat last season.
