Sunderland's Ghana trio Asamoah Gyan, Sulley Muntari and John Mensah has pledged to end their careers at Ghanaian side Asante Kotoko.

Officials of the Kumasi-based side were at Wearside to discuss a partnership deal and took time to meet the three Ghanaian players.

Kotoko's International Relations Officer Kwame Baah-Nuakoh said striker Asamoah Gyan revealed he was close to joining the side before moving to Udinese as a teenager.

Muntari attended Senior High School in Kumasi and played for a lower division side Owerriman FC in the Ashanti Region.

"They really admired Asante Kotoko and in unison they have promised to play for the club before retiring," Baah-Nuakho told Guide Sports.
