Ghana defender Rashid Sumaila is excited about Mubarak Wakaso’s move to Scottish giants Celtic and backs him to get his career back on track after a troubled season in Russia.

Wakaso, 24, completed a loan move to Scottish giants Celtic early this week after just a season in the Russian top flight with Rubin Kazan.

The Ghana international failed to adapt to the Russian top-flight after arriving from Spanish side Espanyol two seasons with a huge reputation.

The midfielder who can also play on the wings mastered only 16 appearances for Rubin Kazan in all competitions last season.

Sumaila says Wakaso’s decision to opt for a move to Celtic will put his career back on track.

“I am really happy for my brother Wakaso. His move to Celtic will help his development and let him play top level football,” the Sundowns man told GHANAsoccernet.com

“Knowing him as I do I am confident he will do well there.”
