SuperSport axe controversial analyst Mamadou Gaye with indefinite suspension

South African continental broadcaster Supersport have slapped controversial Ivorian football analyst Mamadou Gaye with an indefinite suspension over some bizarre and libelous statements.

Protests from football fans across Africa led to the television broadcasters pulling the plug on the controversial analysts after some weird attacks particularly on Nigeria, Ghana and Zambia sparked anger in many quarters.

Things got to a head when some football fans threatened to storm studios of SuperSport in various parts of Africa to vandalize their property leading to the decision to axe him.

Gaye confirmed his suspension revealing that he was dropped during the latter stages of the Africa Cup of Nations.

“I was booked to do certain games for the Africa Cup [but] I was just called not to come to studio in the meantime,” Gaye said.

SuperSport refused to deny or confirm Mamadou’s suspension saying they have the right to decide who appears on their television show.

“Mamadou Gaye is a freelance analyst on SuperSport and we reserve the prerogative to schedule him as and when the need arises,” said head of communications at SuperSport Clinton van de Berg.

Insiders say he could be sacked permanently as investigations are going on over his pronouncement he has made in the past which is damaging to the brand of SuperSport.

The disgusting and libelous views of the depraved Ivorian have spread continent-wide with many calling for Gaye to be axed from the array of respected analysts on the show.

From the astute ex-Nigeria internal Sunday Olisey, to ex-Bafana Bafana star Shaun Bartlett, Ghana’s Sammy Kuffuor and the many other fine pundits on the show, the effusions of Gaye damaged the quality of the shows he appeared on during the just ended AFCON.

Many have wondered why it took too long for the bosses at Supersport to pull the plug on the clown as it has left their judgment of employing him in serious doubt.

The decision to axe Gaye will be celebrated in many part of Africa as the locking up of the clown in his home ensures that he will play the fool nowhere.
