SuperSport chief denies threatening to pull out of Ghana League
SuperSport say they are not pulling out of the Ghana Premier League

Mr Cecil Sunkwa-Mills, the General Manager at Multichoice Ghana Limited, has rejected a report claiming that they might pull out of the league because of protracted legal battle affecting the start of the league.

Sunkw-Mills, who works with the broadcast rights holders of the Ghana Premier League (GPL), SuperSport International, insists he never gave the impression that they might not renew the contract when it expires in September 2016.

A report carried by a newspaper on Friday claimed that the leaders of SuperSport International's operations in Ghana has threatened to pull out of the league  but Sunkwa-Mills says he only lamented on the problems faced by the broadcaster over the delay but never suggested a withdrawal when the contract expires.

"I had an interview and to point out the difficulties we have been facing following the delay in the start of the league," Sunkwa-Mills told GHANAsoccernet.com.

"We all agree that the delay in the start of the league because of the legal battles has posed problems not only to SuperSport but to the teams and clubs too as well.

"But I never suggested we will pull out of the league when our contract expires. We will agree that the league must start quickly but to say we threatened to pull out is far-fetched."

SuperSport signed a three-year deal with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) on September 20, 2013, to produce and broadcast the national league, as well as the MTN FA Cup.
