Andre Ayew impressed on his EPL debut for Swansea

Swansea manager Garry Monk has hailed the immense impact made by new signing Andre Ayew as the Ghana forward scored on his debut in the thrilling 2-2 draw with Chelsea on Saturday.

The 25-year-old was amongst the headliners on Premier League opening day with his beautiful finish to pull Swansea even at Stamford Bridge having gone behind to an Oscar free kick.

The deputy Black Stars captain went on to finish the game as one of the highly rated players as the champions were stunned in their own backyard at the start of their title defence.

Garry Monk whose capture of Andre Ayew in the summer was considered a major transfer coup didn’t mince words at all in praising his maverick acquisition following his impressive debut.

"He's come in, he's been incredible," Monk said.

"He's worked extremely hard with the group, the group have worked hard with him to get him settled and it's always good for a new player when you come into a new league - even though we knew they have great quality - to get that first goal will give him great confidence."

Ayew will get the chance to impress once more again when he makes his competitive debut at the Liberty Stadium when Swansea hosts Newcastle.
