Kwadwo Duah debuted for Young Boys

Swiss-born Ghanaian youth midfielder Kwadwo Duah climbed off the bench to play for Young Boys who were annihilated 6-1 by German side Borussia Monchengladbach in the Uefa Champions League on Wednesday night.

Duah, 19, was introduced by Austrian tactician Adolf Hutter on 69 minutes to anchor the midfield but his influence was minimal as the Super League side were clobbered.

Boys went into the reverse tie with a 3-1 home loss and were hoping to spring a surprise but the Bundesliga side were in no mood to tolerate their dreams as they hammered them to progress on a 9-2 aggregate.

But for the young Ghanaian it was his first minutes of action in the competition after he stepped out of the dug-out to replace Michael Frey with 21 minutes left.

Though he has made a league appearance this season, it was his debut game in a high competition for the losers.

He signed a professional contract in July.

Duah was born to Ghanaian parents in the European country and already represented the country of his birth at U19 level, playing in the Uefa U19 Championship.
