Switzerland's World Cup coach Ottmar Hitzfeld arrived in Ghana on Monday night to an enthusiastic welcome ahead of the launch ofà sports websiteà Allsports.com.gh.
The visit, made possible by Swiss multimedia giants Ringier AG, is the first time the two time Champions League winner has visited the country which gave him two of his biggest stars,Ibrahim Tanko at Dortmund and Samuel Osei Kuffour at Bayern Munich.
The legendary German coach,accompanied by Ringier AG CEO Marc Walder and other executives, was welcomed with a dance performance and went on to express his joy at visiting Ghana.
" I am happy to here and looking forward to my visit here. I am here for the launch of Allsports.com.gh and looking forward to learning and spending time with you all," Hitzfeld said.
"I have been looking forward to today and I am delighted to be here."
Also present was Kotoko CEO,Opoku Nti a former player of Hitzfeld during his stint as boss of Aarau.
"It was a pleasant surprise meeting Opoku Nti here,it brought back so many memories of times I had with him,Sammy Kuffour and so many other Ghanaian players I have coached during my career.
Football fans will have a chance to meet Hitzfeld when he appears as a special guest at the Silverbird Cinema for the Champions league quarter final between Manchester United and Bayern Munich.
He is scheduled to meet several high profile personalities during his stay including officials from the Ghana Football Association.
He will also do some charity work with Accra based organisation Books and Boots at Nima, run by journalist Yaw Ampofo Ankrah.
