Tagoe makes first Bundesliga start

Ghana striker Prince Tagoe made his first Bundesliga start at the weekend and boosted his chance of a starting role in the Ghana squad at the World Cup finals and Erixon Danso scored in the Dutch League.

Germany:

Striker Prince Tagoe gained his first German Bundesliga start over the weekend. The lanky attacker played for 63 minutes for Hoffenheim which drew 1-1 with Borussia Dortmund. However Tagoe was replaced by the club's top striker Vedad Ibisevic who grabbed equaliser in the nick of full time.

VfB Stuttgart added Bayer Leverkusen to their list of victims after beating them 2-1 to make it five wins out of five games.

Manager Jupp Heynckes brought on Black Stars full-back Hans Adu-Sarpei on the 20th minute to replace Gonzalo Castro when Tranquillo Barnetta received a second booking after 19 minutes.

Freiburg edged Nurnberg 2-1 at the Badenova-Stadion to move on equal points with them.

Nurnberg whose first team did not feature former Asante Kotoko hit-man Isaac Boakye are now out of the relegation net thanks to a superior goal aggregate.

Charles Takyi scored the consolation for St. Pauli in their 2-1 away loss to FC  Union Berlin in the Bundesliga II.

The attacking midfielder drew Pauli on level terms on the 19th minute with a cracking strike after Torsten Mattuschka had put the home side ahead on the 10th minute.

Pauli still hold on to second place after the loss and are set for promotion.

Takyi was subbed on the 83rd minute but his compatriot Davidson Drobo-Ampem was out with a slight injury.

In the Liga 3, in Germany former Ashanti Gold striker Eric Agyemang scored the opener for Aue on the 48th minute as they demolished Kiel 3-1.

France:

Marseille maintain their five-point lead at the top of the Ligue 1 after beating relegation trapped Boulogne by two goals to one.

Jordan Ayew was on the Marseille bench as his club won the game through a controversial last gasp penalty converted by Nigerian international Taiye Taiwo.

Le Mans boosted their chance of relegation survival with a shocking 0-1 win over mid-table club Valenciennes.

Le Mans who were reduced to ten men still went  ahead to win the game thanks to a well composed midfield made up of Moussa Narry.

The World Cup hopeful has been in top shape for Le Mans and has helped them a second win a role.

Stade Rennes relentless drive to move further up the Ligue 1 table hit snag as they failed to scrap a win against Nancy.

Rennes' attack was sterile without  Ghanaian hit-man Asamoah Gyan who missed the trip due to an injury suffered last weekend.

They game ended 0-0.

Black Stars winger Andre Ayew put his name on the scoresheet for the third week in a row after scoring the opener on the 65th minute for Arles Avignon as they drew 1-1 with Guingamp.

Andre won the most valuable player award of the game.

Italy:

Sulley Muntari came in the 89th minute for Inter Milan but made an impact when they brushed aside Juventus 2-0 to regain top spot.

Muntari provided a low cross for Cameroonian Samuel Eto'o to slot home at the 90th minute.

Stephen Appiah gained selection into the Bologna first team and watched from the bench as scrapped a vital away point at the Stadio Fruili.

Influential midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah played full time for the Little Zebras and combative midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu sat on the bench for the home side.

17-year old Richmond Boakye Yiadom watched from the sidelines as an impressive Genoa side silenced Parma at their backyard.

Genoa picked their first win in five games to move to eighth place. Ahmed 'Ciro' Ampimah Barusso was among eight Torino players who were yellow carded in a highly tensed game at the Olimpico Grande.

The Roma loanee played full throttle for Torino who have dropped to sixth place.

England:

Sunderland Boss Steve Bruce was full of praise for his first half squad who scored two goals against Burnley.

John Mensah returned into action after several weeks on the side and impressed Boss Steve Bruce at the Stadium of Light.

Kevin-Prince Boateng who was expected to miss the Premier League clash between Portsmouth and Aston Villa beat the air traffic caused by the volcanic eruptions in Iceland and played 80 minutes in their 2-1 loss at Fritton Park.

There was another boost for the Black Stars as John Pantsil finally returned into the Fulham first team.

Pantsil sat on the bench for the Cottagers who allowed Wolverhampton Wanderers to steal valuable away point.

Patrick Agyemang finally saw action for Bristol City who were humiliated 3-0 by Scunthorpe United at the Glanford Park.

The QPR loanee came on in the 82nd minute to replace Paul Hartley.

Former Arsenal academy striker Jo Osei Kuffuor failed to get on the scoresheet for Bristol Rovers who played a pulsating stalemate with Brentford.

Charlton Athletics were shocked at the Valley by Norwich City in a 0-1 to wreck their promotion ambitions.

Speedster Lloyd Sam lasted the entire duration for the host.

Chris Dickson watched the game from the bench as Gillingham booked a comprehensive 3-2 win over Leeds United in the League One.

Albert Adomah hit the back of the net for Barnet as they lost 2-1 Bradford City.

Adomah gave Barnet a deserved lead after 28 minutes but were unable to hold on to the lead as the host fought back to claim all three points.

Holland:

Ajax moved within a point of leaders FC Twente after demolishing Heracles Almelo 4-0.

Kwame Quansah played the full 90 minutes for an iffy-looking Heracles side. 21-year old Erixon Danso came off the bench to seal the victory for FC Utrecht who further boosted their European dreams with a 3-0 thumping of Sparta Rotterdam at away. Danso who replaced Dries Mertens on the 63rd proved his worth on the 75th minute with a clinical finish to put Utrecht in the driving seat. Nana AKwasi Asare played in midfield while center-half Francis Dickoh watched the game from the substitute bench. Ajax loanee and would-be Ghana international Jeffery Sarpong was in fine shape but could not help NEC Nijmegen escape defeat as VVV Venlo brushed them aside by 2-0. Striker Mathew Amoah’s goal scoring form has hit a snag as he has failed to get on the scoresheet for several weeks. The striker was in action NAC Breda as they drew goalless with Heerenveen at away. Roda JC white-washed Vitesse Arnhem 5-2 to move further away from the relegation zone. Black Stars defender Eric Addo watched the game from the bench. Scotland:

Laryea Kingston was subbed on the 74th minute when champions Rangers produced their killer instinct to defeat a ten-man Hearts by 2-0.

Rangers have restored their 11-point lead at the top of the log.

Dundee United are now comfortable in third place after condemning Motherwell to a 3-2 defeat at away.

Prince Abankwah Buaben has become one of the most consistent Ghanaian player in Europe this season.

The box-to-box midfielder lasted the entire duration for the enterprising Dundee side.

Others: Abdul Samad Okocha rescued Hapoel Acco from being relegated with a 58th minute strike to help them scrap a slim 2-1 win over Hapoel Petah Tikva in a playoff game in the Israeli Premier League.

Haminu Dramani warmed the bench for Lokomotiv Moscow who played a 1-1 draw with CSKA Moscow at away.

The winger is yet to play a competitive game for Lokomotiv this season.

Derek Owusu-Boateng was out with suspension when Getafe lost 2-3 to Tenerife.

Former AshGold and U-20 midfield dynamo Wakaso Mubarak came on as a sub for Elche FC when they defeated Castellon at the Martínez Valero.
