South African side Mamelodi Sundowns have taken talented Ghanaian midfielder Cofie Bekoe for a trial one month and the former Belgium-based player is already impressing his hosts.

The 26-year-old, who is blessed with dribbling skills, has been with the club since their camp in Nelspruit and according to Kickoff's informant, Bekoe is a “decent” player.“He’s been on trial since we were in Nelspruit so he’s been around for about two weeks. He is a decent player,” he says.

Sundowns have exhausted their foreign quota for this season, but it must be noted that they previously signed foreign players who were granted special permits and therefore eligible to be registered as locals such as Alje Schut.

Schut, for example, holds a permanent residence permit allowing him to be registered as a non-foreigner through ‘financial independence’.

Since 2009, Bekoe has played in Egypt, Belgium and Libya for Petrojet, Lierse SK and Ittihad Tripoli respectively.
