The National Accreditation Board has said it did not aim at the personality of sacked Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah but the institution which conferred a honorary doctorate degree on him.
The board announced last week that the Day Spring Christian University of Mississippi, which honoured the ex-Ghana coach a Doctor of Psychology in Sports, is not accredited.
ââ¬ÅThe Day Spring University hasnââ¬â¢t been given the accreditation to award degrees in Ghana, hence makes any certificate or award issued, null and void,â⬠The Executive Secretary of the National Accreditation Board Kwame Dartey told Accra-based Asempa FM.
ââ¬ÅThey have conferred honorary degrees on certain individuals and because they donââ¬â¢t have the right to do that it makes such titles questionable.
ââ¬ÅI think the people involved should have contacted us to verify, if the institution had accreditation or not, but unfortunately, they went ahead for the award.ââ¬
Appiah was honoured for becoming the first local coach to qualify the Black Stars for a World Cup finals.
