Techiman City FC have served notice they will be launching an appeal against the Ethics Committee ruling to demote them to the third tier league on bribery charges.

The GN Division One Bank Zone 1 leaders have been recommended for demotion after the Ethics Committee found them guilty of bribery and match fixing alongside Wa African United.

Both teams are set to be demoted to Ghana’s third tier league.

But Techiman City FC says they will be contesting this ruling by the Ethics Committee and will also seek a stay of execution to ‘clear their name’.

“We wish to state emphatically that we are innocent of the allegations made against us and are prepared to use all avenues allowed us by our football regulations and law to clear our name and this injustice meted out to us,” a press release signed by club president Charles Kwadwo Ntim (Micky Charles) read.

“Techiman City FC is innocent and will appeal the Decision of the GFA Ethics Committee and also file for Stay of Execution within the time stipulated by the GFA Regulations.

“Techiman City FC is a law abiding club and member of the GFA and will use all legal means to clear this allegation against it.”

The club however hinted it would resort to seek redress in the ordinary courts.

“Techiman City FC will follow all the judicial process at the Ghana Football Association and but also reserves the right to go beyond it and/or seek redress in any appropriate forum allowed in law,” the press release added.

“This is a matter Techiman City FC will fight with every resource it has because we are innocent.”

Techiman City (formerly BA Stars) is a club which was acquired by Charles Kwadwo Ntim just over two-years ago.

They were in pole position to qualify for the Premier League until they were hit with bribery and match fixing charges which they have now been found guilty of.
