Technical adviser must not earn more than coach Kwesi Appiah - Pappoe
Kwesi Appiah bags $25,000 net salary in new Black Stars deal

Ghana FA Executive Committee member Fred Pappoe says it will make no sense for the newly appointed technical adviser of the Black Stars to earn more money than coach Kwesi Appiah.

The GFA is in the process of appointing someone with the requisite skills to assist in the technical direction of the Black Stars as part of reforms being constituted following Ghana’s poor showing at the 2014 World Cup.

One of the main criteria for selecting the technical adviser is his financial expectations.

Many have suggested that the appointee who is likely to be an expatriate would probably earn more than coach Kwesi Appiah.

Appiah currently earns $25,000 net salary but there are thoughts the new appointee's remenumeration will exceed this figure.

But Fred Pappoe who is a member of the three-man search committee for the new technical adviser insists it will be unfair for the new appointee to earn more than the substantive coach.

“I don’t think it makes sense for an adviser to earn more than the coach,” he told Radio Gold.

“I am yet to see an adviser who earns more than the coach so it is something we will be looking at.”

The three-man search committee are expected to complete and forward their work to the Ghana FA’s Executive Committee early this week for further consideration.

The GFA looks to announce the appointment by the end of the week before preparations begin towards next month’s 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Uganda and Togo.
