Ghana coach Akwasi Appiah insists he has received no word from the Ghana FA or the Sports Ministry of engaging the services of a technical director – reports he describes as a ‘distraction’ that he wouldn't allow to alter his plans for the World Cup.

Several reports have been published in the Ghanaian media of ongoing talks to convince the ex Ghana captain to agree to the unwarranted technical support being sought for by authorities.

Reports first shot up of a link with German coach Klaus Topmoller after which former Chelsea coach Avram Grant to a technical director job which is currently occupied by Francis Oti Akenteng.

Rumours still circulating have thrown other names into the plot but the Ghana FA have remained consistent in their denial of such plans.

Coach Akwasi Appiah has finally broken his silence on the issue – describing it as a distraction to his focus of assembling a strong team for the World Cup finals in June.

“Personally I believe everyone has a premeditated destiny and for that my focus is fully in the job at hand,” he told Metro FM.

“I have had several meetings with the Ghana FA and they have never raised such an issue.

“The [Sports] Ministry have also made no indication of the sort so for me these reports are just to distract me.

“But I will remain focused on my job and will not be deterred by such rumours.”

Ghana will be making just its third appearance at the World Cup in this summer’s edition in Brazil.

The Black Stars a drawn in a tough group alongside Germany, Portugal and USA.
