Tema Youth decided against re-signing Yahaya Mohammed due to his poor attitude

Tema Youth Sporting Director Winfred Osei Parma has revealed the club refused to re-sign Yahaya Mohammed due to his poor off- the- field attitude.

The 24-year-old has by far emerged as the best player in the Ghana Premier League where he has netted 9 times in 10 matches for newly promoted Amidaus Professionals.

Mohammed’s parent club Asante Kotoko farmed him out to the Tema-based side on a season-long loan at the start of the season after he fell out-of-favour with the defending League champions.

The intelligent midfielder has since gone on to silence his critics with some impressive showings for Amidaus.

Mohammed made his first senior appearance for Tema Youth in 2006 before he left for French side OGC Nice.

But his contract with the European side was cancelled after just a season due to recurrent injuries.

But the Tema Youth Sporting Director, who doubles as an Executive committee member of the Ghana Football Association has revealed their head coach Edward Odoom kicked against re-signing him due to his poor attitude.

“I don’t think anyone can question his potential and abilities on the field. But Yahaya has disciplinary issues which must be worked on,” Parma told Radio XYZ

“It was coach Odoom who nurtured him from Great Ambassadors but when he returned from France, he decided against re-signing him because of his poor off-the-field attitude.

“Why do you think Kotoko will send him out on loan when they know he’s a good player?

“There are certain things about the player that many people do not know.

“He needs to work on some of his deficiencies and I believe the sky will be the limit for him.”

Mohammed has hinted he may not return to Kotoko when his loan move expires as he eyes a big move abroad.
