Tema Youth Sporting Diector rallies support for Ghana squad for AFCON

Tema Youth Sporting Director Winfred Osei Parma has made a passionate appeal to fans to lay off Kwesi Appiah after he named his provisional 26-man squad for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations.

Th ex-Ghana defender announced his squad on Thursday which saw some few surprises.

In-form Amidaus Professionals midfielder Yahaya Mohammed made the cut while Jordan Ayew, Sulley Muntari and Samuel Inkoom were dropped for varied reasons.

Jordan’s perceived temperament could have cost him a place in the team while Muntari was axed for his inability to recover in time from a knee injury.

Inkoom’s lack of playing time at Dnipro accounted for his omission.

Jordan’s exclusion especially has raised public uproar, but the Executive Committee member of the Ghana Football Association wants fans to measure their criticism of the squad.

“At the end of the day,  it’s only 23 players that will make the squad and so I think what the coach needs is support not unwarranted criticisms,” Parma said

“Let’s us support the players but in the end we want them to go out there and win the cup for the nation.

“I am satisfied with the kind of players that have been called-up. They all deserve to be in the team.

“As far as I’m concerned there should be no qualms with it.”

The team will begin a pre-tournament camping in early January.
