Hearts of Oak slipped into the relegation zone after going down 3-1 at home to Medeama to sum up their worst display in the Ghana Premier League.

Hearts were undone by two classy goals scored in each half by Joseph Gordon with Eric Nyarko's header in between.

The Phobians desperately needed the points to ease their relegation fears after a difficult campaign which has angered their teeming followers.

Gordon put the visitors in front in the 5th minute through a free-kick.

The defensive virus that has afflicted Hearts this season appeared not to be over after they failed to clear their lines allowing the ball to slip into the net.

Hearts responded positively after captain Mahatma Otoo tapped in from close range from Ollenu Ashitey's cross.

Medeama were reduced to 10-men after a stupid challenge from Mohammed Tanko saw the midfielder sent off in the first half.

But Hearts failed to make their numerical advantage count as poor finishing and indecisiveness cost them the chance to equalize.

Medeama sealed victory with Gordon’s thunderbolt from 35 yards to beat goalkeeper Tetteh Luggard.

With Tema Youth beating Berekum Arsenals 2-0 at home, the Ghanaian giants have slumped into the relegation net as fans left the venue hugely disenchanted.
