Tension between Ghana FA and Sports minister escalates after Greater Accra football chief takes him to cleaners

The gulf between the Ghana FA and the country's sports minister appear to have widened after the Greater Accra Football chief Nii Komotey Duku took a stinging pot-shot at Nii Lante Vanderpuije over his recent attacks.

Since assuming office, the Member of Parliament for Odododiodoo Constituency has launched a series of tirade targeted at the Ghana FA without provocation.

The former footballer cum boxer appears to have a bone to pick with the country's federation after making several public comments without due recourse to the federation.

Nii Lante Vanderpuije has claimed deep-seated knowledge of the running of the game than members of the federation.

He has also warned he will face members of the federation head-on if they fail to yield to his advice.

The minister's recent public outburst against the payment of entitlement to the Black Stars management committee has amplified the long-held suspicion that he is at loggerheads with the FA.

But Greater Accra Football chairman Nii Doku has replied the tough-talking minister in equal measure, insisting he cannot cow anyone to submission.

“This is his last stop, I will not allow him to say anything he wants to say about the GFA and go free. We are all sons of positive defiance. We say it as it is without fear,” Doku is quoted as saying.

“You meet us and talk nicely and the next time you are out you want to play to the gallery. This is his last stop. There are people like him in the GFA and worst than his sort."

Critics have accused the country's sports minister of playing to the gallery without proper consultation due to his recent public outburst.
