Testimonial build-up excites Sammy Kuffour

Ghana legend Sammy Kuffuor says he is overwhelmed by the support he has received from local fans ahead of his much anticipated testimonial match.

The ex-Bayern Munich defender will officially call time on an illustrious career on Friday at the Baba Yara Stadium.

German legends Lothar Mathaus and Oliver Kahn, Manchester United idol Andy Cole, Cameroonian Rigobert Song, Raymond Kalla are expected.

Also, Nigeria duo Daniel Amokachi and Jay-Jay Okocha, South Africans Lucas Radebe and Mark Fish will be in the capital on Thursday.

Two ex-Ghana president Jerry John Rawlings and John Agyekum Kuffuor will join Ashanti King Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to witness the historic occasion.

Kuffour, a Uefa Champions League winner in 2001, says he feels blessed by the turn of events.

"The organization has been going well and the level of support that have been shown by Ghanaians to me is commendable," Kuffuor said.

"How and when do you think you can get two ex-Ghana presidents Jerry John Rawlings and John Agyekum Kuffuor joining forces with my king Otumfuo to watch a game?

"Seriously I’m blessed and I thank everybody for the support."
