Matlida Kissiwa-Sakyi has made history by emerging the first and only female physiotherapist in the Ghana Premier League.

Working with Aduana Stars, the young Sakyi is tasked with helping in the swift recovery of injured players.

Plucked from the Dormaa Presby Hospital, she travels and shares almost everything with the players.

She shared her very interesting experience since joining the Aduana medical staff back in October.

“I have been with Aduana Stars since October,” she told GHANAsoccernet.com.

“I was called by the team’s chairman, I think he heard about me while I was with the Dormaa Presby Hospital.

“Initially it wasn’t easy working with all these men, but I am gradually getting used to.

“Yes, they (players) are more inclined to come to me due to the fact that I am a woman, their noise and all that but I am ok with it.”

Sakyi’s emergence hopes to draw more women into the professional that is widely considered a preserve for men.

English side Chelsea are also the only known club with a female being part of their technical team.
